King Boston is a privately funded non-profit working closely with the City of Boston to create a living memorial and programs honoring the legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King and their time and work together in Boston. About King Boston

King Boston is a privately funded non-profit working closely with the City of Boston to create a new memorial and programs about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. and Coretta Scott King and their time and work together in Boston. The memorial is intended to inspire visitors to reflect on their lives and the values of social justice that both espoused, prompting each of us to consider how we can contribute to realizing his vision of an equitable and fair society.

天眼加速器app seeks to create a compelling call to action:

A world-class memorial on the Boston Common, the oldest public park in America, with a still-vibrant, 400-year-old tradition of civic gatherings. There, in 1965, Dr. King called upon Boston to live up to its highest ideals by confronting the problems of racism and economic injustice.

The creation of a new “King Center for Economic Justice” in Roxbury, tied to the installation on the Common the center will work with residents to democratize access to information, cultivate new capacities for civic engagement in order to reduce economic disparities across our city.

Raise an endowment in partnership with Roxbury’s Twelfth Baptist Church, to continue King related programming in the city. Dr. King worshipped and ministered at Twelfth Baptist when he lived in Boston, often returning there in following years.

Designs Submitted

King Boston received 126 applications to design the memorial, and five finalists were selected by a panel of experts – renowned educators, visual artists and curators rooted in the Black tradition.

Proposals Displayed

The proposals were displayed at the Boston Public Library and the Bruce C. Bolling Building and over 1, 000 public comments were received and catalogued. Of the five finalists, three designs were advanced to the feasibility stage.
